My friend and fellow book lover Jan, sent me this children’s fable. The sentiment is apt for everything else we cherish in life.

A wonderful fable and one which articulates my own desire; I am an incorrigible bibliophile.
I’ve, for many years now, lived by Erasmus’s dictum: “When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes.”
Cheers, to paginated friends.

My sentiments, exactly.
I am of an age that while growing up, there was not too much in the way of entertainment outside of books and friends. During hot summer days in India, we could not play outside. So my friends, my sister and I read and read . And we told each other stories about what we read. Having a mother who was an avid reader, also helped.
