Accidental Blogger

A general interest blog

April is the six month anniversary of Accidental Blogger.  Except for a short hiatus necessitated by travel, I have kept up with blogging on an almost daily basis. I have loved every moment of it.

The diligence has taken its toll – I feel a bit jaded. For example, today there are several interesting ideas buzzing around in my head but I cannot bring myself to collect my thoughts enough to construct a blog post.  Which is not a good sign. Also, my attention to the blog has to some extent, taken time away from some other leisure activities – especially reading. I therefore decided to slow down a bit and perhaps not post new items daily. Accidental Blogger now has some regular readers and is also on the blog roll of several blogs. Other bloggers have been incredibly nice with their links. But all said and done, I have decided to take a bit of a break to refresh my mind.

I will write less frequently for a while – make a post when I feel there is something really compelling to say or just when I feel enthusiastic. In the meanwhile, I will continue to link to interesting stories that I may come across and also bring to the front some of my older posts. Readers who have been with me from the beginning may have seen them but for newer readers they will be fresh material.  There are other guest authors here. If one (or more) of them feels inclined to write something, there will be more new material on the blog. Until then it may be slow going.

Today I will bring to the front page an older post with a matching title which some of you may enjoy reading (or rereading). Please see below.

That’s a very good way of describing how I feel as well. I keep hoping to become rejuvenated, especially since I still have all this time before I head off to law school, but so far it hasn’t happened.

  3. Devan: Thanks for keeping an eye on the blog. Despite the title of the post, I am not exactly “disappearing” but probably will “appear” less frequently.
Joe: As I said to Devan, I am not yet declaring an RIP for Accidental Blogger as you did for Unreal City. Just slowing down things a bit until I feel energized again.
Part of the reason for the malaise, I think has been due to my anger with the Bush administration and the realization that no matter how much I fulminate against Bush, he is here for another thousand days.
Perhaps one way to recapture the enthusiasm will be to stay away from politics for a bit. (I doubt that will be possible).
Hopefully, you will have the energy for a few blog posts before you pack up your bags and head for the rigors (and fun) of law school.

  4. Ruchira, I think not declaring an RIP is the way to go. Today I seem to be feeling a bit more “blogging energized,” and I’m glad that I have A.B. and Liberal Avenger to contribute to (especially now that I’ve actually deleted Unreal City). One day certainly doesn’t qualify as a trend, but I’d say you’ll probably recapture your enthusiasm–and in the meantime, enjoy reading books instead of blogs!
