Accidental Blogger

A general interest blog

Recently, guest blogger Sujatha entertained us with her account of the UFOs (UnFinished Objects) that clutter her closets. They are the results of her never ending interest in new art and craft projects which she led us to believe she pursues enthusiastically but doesn’t quite manage to finish.  Well, not true.  Here is an evidence of one she did finish … and very well, I should add.

This is a piece of 21" X 21" quilt which Sujatha calls the "Rainbow Pinwheels."  She made it for her children’s room and describes it this way: "I had picked out those fabrics and colors because they complemented a ‘cloud dog’ carving from Darjeeling that my mom had given as a present. It was a fun project, though the quilting ( not exactly visible) is nowhere near heirloom quality. The lines aren’t very visible in the photo."  Sujatha, it’s time to launch a few more of the UFOs and share them with readers.

Accidental Blogger is becoming a prolific "art" blog (how much Bush bashing can one do, after all?) and a useful one at that.  After my own recent virtual exhibition, I heard from a "real" artist Richa Arora, whom I had featured here some time ago. (See her comment on my exhibition) Richa wrote to say that she was recently contacted by a collector in Mumbai enquiring about her work after he stumbled upon her blog exhibition here! The gentleman was searching for her teacher to whom I had linked within the write up and found her art in the process. Hope she makes a sale!

  1. The quilt is lovely. The vibrant colors and the pinwheel design remind me of bright Rajasthani block prints. It must brighten up the children’s room.
I know nothing about quilting. I came across some pretty interesting historical facts about quilting in Margaret Atwood’s Alias Grace which oddly enough, is a murder mystery. As far as I remember, the book’s chapters are named after different quilting patterns.
