No shrinking violets – these right wing divas of the Republican Party. Although they admonish the rest of us women to curtail our reproductive rights, to cleave unto our men and busy ourselves with Kinder, Kuche und Kirche, the ‘Belles for Bush" are a fierce bunch in lock step with (and sometimes one step ahead) of their chicken hawk male counterparts. Any attack on their MAN and they will tear you apart like famished lionesses. Phyllis Schlafly, the Grand Old Scold of the Grand Old Party has not been seen much lately. But her latter day hipper incarnations, Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter are filling in the gap ably.
Ingraham recently accused journalists for not reporting the "real" news from Iraq and making up sensational stories from the comfort of their hotel balcony just before this and this happened. Ingraham, whose style is more like that of a hand to hand combatant, at least tries to bolster her lies and outlandish claims with a pretense of logic. The outrageous Ann Coulter on the other hand doesn’t even bother to temper her filthy outbursts with any semblance of reason or evidence. She is the grenade thrower of the "Slash, Burn & Swiftboat" squad of the Republican party. I won’t bother to catalogue the long list of her repulsive utterances. To find out who the latest targets of her poison pen (and vicious tongue) are, see here.
Update: Response to Coulter’s slander: here and here. (Thanks to Sujatha for the links)

These “GOPis” are too enamored of their Bushlala to do anything other than forward his agenda and spew hatred for both shock value and usefully to him, getting the memes out, even if it is outrageous lying. The only way to deal with them is to ignore them and behave like the whale in Eric Carle’s “The Grouchy Ladybug” where a belligerent ladybug ranting at various larger animals is just brushed off.

I’m addicted to mixed metaphors, I’m afraid. Let me explain the “GOPi”-Bushlala reference- the parallel here is to the Gopis ( or women of the cowherd clan where Krishna grew up) who were inordinately fond of Krishna ( also known as Nandalala or son of Nanda, a chief of the cowherds)

You mixed metaphors are right on the money. The infatuation with Bush and the right wing agenda is of mythical proportions even when things are unraveling for all to see. Ronald Reagan too had a similar fan club.
Ann Coulter is clearly a publicity hound of the worst kind. She has cultivated a persona and the media are helping her push it. The more outrageous she is, the more she is sought out. I blame the networks, CNN and other news outlets for giving her the air time. We wouldn’t have to listen to her self serving “shock and awe” rhetoric if it was not for the major media.
