Accidental Blogger

Tomorrow is a crucial election day. My advice: "Vote early, vote Democrat and vote often" – the last, only if you are voting Democratic ! All kidding aside, please do remember to cast your ballot (if you  haven’t done so already) for what you believe and against what you reject.  Remember Bush-Cheney-Rove, Katrina, Jack Abramoff and the disaster in Iraq.

I am keenly looking forward to tomorrow’s election.  As has been my practice for many years, this year too I campaigned quite diligently for Congressman Nick Lampson (for Tom DeLay’s seat) and Neeta Sane, a neighbor of mine, who is contesting the county treasurer’s seat in our district on a Democratic ticket.  I did block walking, phone banking, stuffing envelopes with campaign fliers etc. for both of them. On Sunday I got a call to work at a polling station as an election worker. I  accepted.  I have never done this before. I expect it to be a simple job but I am wondering if there will be any Republican hanky panky in the form of voter intimidation, illegal campaigning etc.  My district is very, very conservative. I won’t be surprised if I see some right wing misbehavior.  If I do, I will report to you faithfully all the gory details.

Let us see what happens in my district, in Texas and nationwide. There are several races which everyone will be watching. There may be both pleasant and nasty surprises in store, depending on whose side one is on. Once the vote tallies are in, I will know whether to laugh or grumble.  Either way, you will probably hear from me on Wednesday.
