Indian sand sculptor Sudarshan Patnaik has created a twenty foot statue of Jesus and other Christmas figures on the sands of a beach near the eastern Indian city of Puri. Not quite lasting images but certainly spectacularly painstaking.

Nearby is a figure of Santa.

An older statue of Jesus from Christmas of 2004.

Quite fascinating! I wonder if he uses any sprays or artificial materials to hold up the ‘foaming waves’, though he’s evidently used some kind of paint for the Santa.

Yes, they are quite impressive. The 2004 sculpture is really nice. I am sure he sprays some sticky stiffener so that the creations will stand around for a while for the enjoyment of viewers.
