The wingnuts are crying "foul" even before tonight’s debate has taken place. If Palin does well, it will be because she is smarter than the liberal media gave her credit for. If she tanks the blame goes to ….. moderator Gwen Ifill!
If the Democrats were crafty about strategery, they would invite Tina Fey, in her Palin persona, to occupy a front row seat.

I agree. This was the first time I heard a debate participant say that she was not interested in answering the moderator’s (or the main stream media’s) question. Instead, she would talk to the “American People.”
Yes, Palin did not look as clueless as she did in the recent interviews. She crammed up the talking points well and tried to hijack every question to “energy” – an issue she evidently knows something about. And of course she smiled her tight smile, winked, dropped her “g”s and said “ya” a lot. I guess that did make for a sterling performance.
Senator Biden was perfect – in tone and in substance. He even beat Palin on the “Mommy” question.

Palin was definitely crammed to the gills with her talking points, while Biden clearly and succinctly actually answered the questions to him, as opposed to regurgitating talking points whether or not they were relevant to the question, as Palin did.
My doubts about Biden’s selection as VP are completely laid to rest (not that I had more than a couple of issues with his views). On the other hand, Palin just resurrected her vice-presidential candidacy, and that is a good thing, considering that she is now free to utter more inanities and drive more independent voters away, rather than failing to the point of needing replacement with the likes of Joe Lieberman or Tom Ridge.
