A general interest blog

Last night, I came across this while checking out blogs and forums and thought it was almost unbelievable:
Sarah Palin getting pranked by some French-Canadian guys on the phone.

This was later confirmed by all news agencies. Yes, that was indeed the one-and-only Sarah Palin being fooled by a pair of French Canadian impersonators.

Two well-known Canadian pranksters tricked Republican vice presidential
nominee Sarah Palin into thinking she was on the phone today with
French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The conversation, captured on a
Montreal radio program, was, in a word, embarrassing. (Politico’s Ben Smith was among the first to pick up on reports from The Canadian Press.)

The fake Sarkozy buttered Palin up by telling her he hoped she would
become president some day. "Haha, maybe in eight years," Palin replied.
Then the conversation turned to helicopter hunting, with a mention of
Vice President Dick Cheney’s infamous bad shot.

"One of my favorite activities is to hunt, too," the fake Sarkozy
said. "Oh, very good, we should go hunting together," Palin replied,
adding, "I think we could have a lot of fun together as we’re getting
work done. We could kill two birds with one stone that way."

"I just love killing those animals! Taking away life, that is so fun," the Sarkozy impersonator said.

Palin laughed.

It’s headline news all over the world today, so Palin is not only a national, but international laughing stock as well. Ouch, it must not be nice to be in her shoes right now!

  1. Sarah Palin should be running with Joe the Plumber as her running mate in 2012. They are well matched in their narrow, ignorant world views.
It is a pity that the pranksters gave away their identity a bit soon without allowing Palin to expose herself further as the scarily ambitious ignoramus that she truly is.
Prime Minister of Montreal?.. Is Joe the Plumber your ‘usband? and other stupid remarks didn’t raise the red flag for Palin? Even if they did, she was so unctious and giddy at the thought of speaking with a head of state that she didn’t pause to reconsider. I wish they had kept her talking and we could have heard her explain the US Constitution to Sarkozy:

how her first amendment rights are curtailed when the press calls her divisive rhetoric negative campaigning.
how the Constitution makes the vice president in “charge” of the Senate.
how the Constitution will permit her to expand the role of vice-president.

Most of us know who Palin is and what her capacity as a statesman would be. But will the true believers care? The scary thing is that if Americans are not sufficiently concerned, we could we end up with this woman as # 2 in the executive office on November 4.

  2. Hilarious, and at some level, scary to find her so naive.

I think that I’m most appalled at the giddy tone in which she casually jumped into the conversation, tossing off ‘not-really-listening’ responses to even the most outrageous statements.Compliments on the porn flick made by Larry Flynt being ‘edgy’ should have been a real red flag- she just went ‘Thanks’. In the comment on going hunting together, the pranksters added in French (‘On peut tuer les bebes phoques aussi’- ‘We could kill baby seals, also’) and she assented without even asking for an explanation, assuming that it was something complimentary.
What an embarassment to the office if she makes it, this is even worse than Dubya in lipstick!
