Digby beats the drum in boring fashion about the impending "entitlement reform" agenda. Maybe I'd feel differently if I read Hullabaloo every day, but as it is I certainly don't find the rant to be boring.
Incidentally, the drum I feel myself wanting to beat in boring fashion is the one about the impending failure of postpartisanship. I'm going to quote Digby here, just because I'll pretty much quote any reference to "Presidents Nelson, Snowe and Collins":
Democrats in congress. Despite a big electoral victory and a mandate
for change, they are not going to get cooperation from the Republicans
and Presidents Nelson, Snowe and Collins aren't the kind of people who
have the imagination or necessary boldness to lead us out of this mess.
This comic on "centrists" also seems apt.
Hopefully, President Obama will learn a lesson from the harm caused to the stimulus by the combination of his own "be reasonable and work with the other side" tendencies and the Republicans' "be unreasonable and never play nice" philosophy.
One response to “Entitlement Reform (Joe)”
I am getting a little nervous with this bi-partisan, centrist nonsense myself. You compromise with decent people, not with obstructionists who want to see you fail. But I am still holding on to the hope that Obama has sharp elbows and knows how to use them when no one’s watching.
All southern states whose representatives voted against the stimulus bill should be cut out of the share of the federal money and their citizens should be told why they have been left out. Let their congressmen create jobs for them out of thin air and tax cuts.
