Bernie Sanders, Democratic Senator from the State of Vermont in the U.S.A., is a socialist.

Is there a war on working families in America? Is our democracy in peril? Is the wealth of this country in the hands of, or under the control of, a relative few?

To everyone who has called Barack Obama a socialist, and everyone else who does not know what a socialist is, and all those who think socialists are dangerous, BERNIE SANDERS is a SOCIALIST. If you want to learn all about socialism in under 15 minutes, then watch and listen to this video.  Bernie is talking before the U.S. Congress on 30 November 2010.

Norman, thanks for posting this link. In his soliloquy, Sen. Sanders says a mouthful!! We need another 59 just like him – people with brains and a heart and courage (to borrow from the Wizard of Oz, if I might). Earlier this evening, I listened to a clip from Glen Beck lambasting the poor as mooches and this statement by Bernie Sanders means I can go to sleep knowing that at least one Senator has the cajones to tell it like it should be told.

  2. Don, thanks for reading, listening, and commenting.
People like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter are performance artists who hit upon a formula, years ago, to make lots of money. Ann Coulter discovered her formula in college and stayed with it to amass a fortune. It’s schtick, and not politics nor conviction.
I mention these three because they are examples of the greed that Sanders talks about. Taken together, they are a terrible, effective force against social legislation that halted poverty, raised the standard of living for tens of millions of Americans, and created a huge middle class that fed, housed, and educated their families.
The remarkable thing is that they do not really care about their message, except that it is part of the formula to fill their coffers. It’s one thing to have a road show that is successful and earns you a lot of money. It becomes greed and poison, when the accumulation of wealth is partnered with destroying the financial foundation and self respect of millions of people.
I wish I had an answer for this.

  3. The real travesty is not that Limbaugh, Beck and Coulter are minting money from their reactionary shtick, but that the GOP and even some of the Dems are basing their own talking points and policy on the venomous rhetoric of these clowns.
