Apparently lamb is a particularly bad (i.e. high-carbon) food because sheep burp a lot of methane. They're actually worse than cows.
On the other hand, lamb is delicious. And I can't stop laughing at the thought of choosing food based on how much methane it burps.

in my part of the world lamb is the least popular meat on account of the fact that it sends cholestrol level shooting up – more than all other meat. only growing children are encouraged to eat mutton.

I was surprised by just how emissions-intensive tomatoes are – they’re twice as bad as chicken.

Why are you surprised? Some of the healthiest veggies and whole grain foods are emission prone. Remember that cows and lambs are vegetarian. The gas antidote Beano, which airs some of the funniest commercials (I like the one about the monks who have taken vows of silence and eat a lot of whole grains, nuts and beans but manage nonetheless to maintain quiet in the monastery with Beano) has a list of “Problem Foods” requiring Beano’s intervention with digestion. I don’t see tomato there. May be you should write to them.

Interesting. I think I’d eat what I enjoy eating. So long as it satisfies my hunger and fuels my body, it’s going to be eaten.
