Django_reinhardt  A professor friend of mine sends word that one of his students is drawing caricatures of famous historical figures as eggs.  I checked out the student's web site, called "Eggs of History," and found the drawings to be delightful.  I'm particularly fond of Sir Philip Sidney, Afrika Bambaata, and Django.  Roll over, David Levine!

  1. He doesn’t look anything like Sean Penn.

  2. Millions of people throughout history, over many centuries, and the only woman to show up in egg form is Marilyn Monroe?
At least he could have put in Golda Meir smoking a cigarette.

  3. ‘Eggify’ may not be a proper word, but it will be, by the time I’m done with it.
    (a) It is a student’s work, not the professor’s.
    (b) He lives in a very man-centric world, where females are primarily seen as sex objects or tiresome amorphous nags, eggish enough in their own right without needing to be eggified.
(c)Golda Meir was not pretty in the photos taken after she became PM, so eggifying her is not subversive enough.
    (d) I think that Henry VIII is very well as an egg.

    Michel Foucault, egghead.
Beware: tasteless comment ahead. Shouldn’t Kurt Cobain look more like an omelet?

  5. I don’t know where you guys are seeing Sean Penn, Marilyn Monroe and Kurt Cobain. My link only shows a handful of drawings.
