An earlier study Signal and Noise: Media, Infrastructure, and Urban Culture in Nigeria too seemed quite interesting. Some of Brian Larkin’s papers can be found at his Bernard College Faculty site. I am travelling with very little time to read but am tempted to mention a book that I liked.
